With spring just a few short weeks away winter seems to be hanging on with a vengence here on the northcoast. We had another 8 inches of snow dumped on us Thursday and Friday. Even with signs of spring peeking through throughout the woods on my walk last weekend I have no doubt old man winter will have one last wild party sometime in March or April, going out with a bang, before spring finally sends him on his way.

There were lots of deer tracks in the woods and squirrels and woodpeckers everywhere but no sign of any owls so I came home empty handed again. Next weekend we'll be out spotting bald eagle nests. The eagles are beginning to nest now and should be sitting on or in the vicinity of their nests. Hopefully I'll come away with some decent pictures. Later in the month the frogs should be coming out of hibernation and once the peepers begin their chorus that is a sure sing of spring.
